KART Hanford Study
All KART services in Hanford are being evaluated through a Fixed Route Study on behalf of the Kings County Area Public Transit Agency (KCAPTA).
We need your feedback!
The study will evaluate who is riding now, who might potentially use the service, and how service can be improved to best meet the community’s needs. This could result in route realignments, changes to service frequency or span of service (starting and ending times), or days of the week. The study will also consider influences on transit demand such as the impact of COVID, commercial and residential growth patterns, and development of a new transit center. The study will also aim to alleviate congestion and promote ridership and public transit for the region.
A New Transit Center
Plans are underway to relocate the transit center to a large parcel located between Seventh St. and Eighth St., and between Harris St. and Brown St in Hanford. This new transit center will include a climate-controlled building with ticket sales, real-time information, restrooms, and an indoor waiting area. It will include office and retail space. The Transit Center is expected to be begin construction in the summer of 2023.
